David vs. Goliath
18 X24 PhotoshopCS ..."You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the LORD Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the LORD will hand you over to me, and I'll strike you down and cut off your head. Today I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the LORD saves; for the battle is the LORD's, and he will give all of you into our hands."... 1 Samuel 17:1-58 This one became a bear. It started out a simple sketch that I thought I'd add some color too but I just kept adding and adding until a month and more later I ended up with this. The biblical text said david had a staff but he musta dropped it just before he let fly his stone and it also says Goliath's shield bearer went before him..umm..maybe he went to go get david's staff?..anyway..for now this is my definitive take on david and goliath and I'll be retiring my other versions to scraps. Also, despite the verse I chose, this painting is in no way a political statement about the the current goings on with Israel. Although you can take it as such if you want. EDIT: WOW a daily deviation for me? I never thought it would happen to me. I'd like to thank the academy but more so I'd like to thank baKIN and Aeires! We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
